Haunted Chorus

(5 customer reviews)

We regularly get requests from high level guys looking to get a chorus with more control and an ‘eerie’ voice. The classic TC Electronics chorus pedal possessed a sonic quality that so many players have been searching for. So we got to work…

After 2 years of research and development we’re ready to show off just what we’re sure will become a true classic.

Using some of the methodologies found in our Haunted Delay the Haunted Chorus has some other-worldly sonic capabilities.

  • Rate: Controls the speed of the swells. The LED will show flash in time
  • Wave: Sets the overall wave shape from a square wave to triangle wave
  • Size: This adds an echo-like/reverb-ish quality bringing a new dimension to the standard chorus pedal.
  • Delay: Control the delay before you hear the modulated signal.
  • Pitch: This adjusts the amount the modulated pitch is shifted.
  • Depth: Adjusts the balance between wet and dry signals.

Additional features include:

  • True Hardwire Bypass for noise free operation
  • LED pulses with the tempo of the chorus effect
  • Stomp switch built to withstand years of hard stomping shows
  • Durable aluminum housing
  • Operates on a standard 9 volt negative tip BOSS style adapter
  • Proudly built by hand in the USA
  • Enclosure color may vary from photo

This is a great-sounding, extremely tweakable chorus with a bit of an unconventional sound and feature set. Having control of the wave shape of the LFO is a huge advantage for getting unusual chorus tones, and the delay section (dimension and animate knobs) allow the pedal to go into different territory than almost any other chorus I’m aware of. Out of the box, the sound is slightly different than most choruses because of the longer delay time between the dry and wet signal. It creates a kind of slapback effect that makes the sound a little more lively than the paradigm CE-2. Depending on what you’re looking for in a chorus, this could be a good or bad quality. If you want something inspiring that is a bit of a departure from the classic chorus sound, this is a fantastic choice, but if you are searching for something really reminiscent of a classic pedal chorus, this could be a little too out there.

Well I liked it, but it was a little too weird for me. The settings felt a bit too wacky for me. If you tweak it just right though you’ll get a very nice chorus. I don’t get that much use out of it and just have it on my shelf in case I feel like being weird. I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy it, but really think about it. I feel this is for people that LOVES chorus. If you’re just looking for a very simple chorus this might be over kill.
Pros: The most flexible chorus I’ve ever played with lots of unique features
Cons: Depends on use, features may be a tad bit too weird for some people

This pretty much ends my long search for THE chorus pedal to end them all! It’s subtle, lush, strange, and beautiful! Get it and you won’t regret it! Pro Tone Pedals is by far the best company around!

  4. Nicholas

This pedal can do nice chorus sounds you are used to. It can also get into bizarre territory that might scare your family or neighbors. A great pedal for someone who is not sure they like chorus. Very complete control over the chorus. Also allows you to adjust delay time for a short delay before the modulation kicks in.

  5. Ricardo

This is the most musical chorus I’ve ever heard. When people say that it can be incredibly subtle or in your face and outrageous, you have to believe it. Set it up to slow rate and slow depth with a bit of the size knob, and it’s a thick doubling effect. Turn it up some more and you get and amazingly washy chorus. Crank everything and you’ll get the most whacky chorus that Nirvana wish they could’ve used. If you’re looking for a do-it-all pedal, this is it. Use it as an always-on or a whacked out effect. Honestly, buy this pedal and don’t look back.
